Welcome to Thrifty Thursday - Mission saving $24/day. Break it down even futher, what would you need to do to save $1/hour every day? It's about finding your "ouch" or "I could do that" factor. So what would saving $24/day do for you? What would you do with $730/month or $8760.00/year extra? What would you do if you had to do with $730/month or $8760.00/year less? Either way, it is the same amount of money, just produces a different reaction in the person. Saving money or having to do with less builds character. There's a sense of accomplishment when you set goals and attain them. Your perspective and the way you approach it makes the difference. What you need (ouch) and what you want (can do) makes a difference in how you approach it too. Are you saving for a family vacation to relax or are you looking at starting over and need to make some sacrifices? Are you trying to pay off your loans quicker or are you saving for your child's education? So many ways to spend money and so many ways to save money too. Breaking it down to manageable bites helps.Thrift is not an affair of the pocket, but an affair of character. – S.W. Straus
So let's take our $24/day. For starter's there's always breakfast. I like to have yogurt for breakfast. I also like oatmeal. Which one would help me get to my goal of saving/day? Yogurt is $.58/serving and Oatmeal is $.19/serving. If I ate oatmeal everyday instead of yogurt, it would get $.39/day closer to my goal of saving.
So we are at $24.00 - .39 = $23.61 to save per day. Wonder what I'll have to do for lunch to help reach the goal? See, little bites of saving gets you closer to your goal!
Yummmm...time to go make some oatmeal! Enjoy saving some $!
