Conditions are never perfect, just get started

Don’t wait until everything is just right.  It will never be perfect.  There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions.  So what.  Get started now.  With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, and more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful. – Mark Victor Hansen
Whew - Week one of unemployment under my belt.  Again, to me it still feels a little like a vacation.  It was weird to drive to town and not turn to go to work.  It was weird to go shopping in the middle of the day and not feel guilty. It was weird not to have 200 emails to read.  It was weird not to have the phone ringing asking for something besides "You stopped at our website, are you still interested in the product?"  Not really perfect conditions, but it was a week to begin feeling stronger and more confident.  Yesterday, I even took a walk, skipped taking a nap, read a book and started playing with some of the settings on my new camera.  The sun was shining and creating lots of cool lighting.  Great setting to reflect on the week and take some time to just sit and enjoy the sunshine.  Conditions weren't necessarily perfect.  Even some technical challenges not unlike the week of adjustment I had just gone through.  So what?  That's right, this week was an opportunity to get started on both moving forward on my new beginning and moving forward on discovering more about my camera.

Discovering photography is a great way to test challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. The more you play with it the easier it becomes to take risks and just enjoy the process.  The more you look at the opportunities around you, the more you feel like taking chances.  What did I discover yesterday?  Let's take a break and look...it's Saturday, a perfect day to reflect on the week and gear up for the next adventure.  (Oh...and remember the Packers get their second chance against the Vikings...hopefully they will feel more confident and stronger and win this time! - Sorry Vikings fans!)

Tizzie in focus!  I held the camera down at
her level and she looked up at a reflection of
light on the wall at the same time I took the picture.

Tizzie out of focus!  Same position for the camera
only it focused on the chair and the string instead!

Blurry attempt to catch the splash

I was too slow...no splash at all!

Again, too slow...just right after the splash

Somehow I caught the splash off to the side

Right after the splash again - time to try a new
setting on the camera!

After 112 pictures and figuring out how to set the
camera on continuous picture mode...I caught the splash
right when I wanted to.  Gotta love persistence,
gotta love technology...gotta love an afternoon
to just play!
