A simple folded saving plan

The safest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it in your pocket. – Kin Hubbard
Thrifty Thursday Tips - $24/day Saving Mission Week 2 - One of the biggest obstacles to getting in the mode of saving is to mentally get into the mode of saving.  I like the quote above.  It's kind of like carrying a penny around in your pocket for good luck.  Instead of the penny, fold a dollar, put it in your pocket and every time you think about spending money on something you don't need, reach into your pocket and let the folded dollar remind you that you're in the saving mode!!   Clever, simple, and easy to do!

When you wake up in the morning, grab the dollar bill, put in your pocket, smile and enjoy the sunrise!

Yesterday's sunrise!
Every night, remove the dollar bill, put it in your "safe keeping" place, congratulate yourself for saving it all day instead of spending it, and enjoy the sunset!

Last night's sunset!
Look for opportunities to save money!  Yesterday, I saved the change from a gift certificate I had used to buy my lunch out.  (I was saving the gift certificate just for this lunch...don't tease me for eating out!)  Two dollars saved....time to fold them over, and carry them in my pocket!  Yeah, a simple way to keep saving money as a priority!  If you grab a new dollar every day - 30 days later, you've saved....yep $30.  Simple eh?
