Patience and perseverance per a maple tree

Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish. – John Quincy Adams
We waited all summer for our little tree to be ready for its big move to the backyard.  The tree had more perseverance than we thought.  It continued on with its growing spurt, going through the cycle of producing more and more leaves.  Why not keep growing, it had no idea that a new home was in the works.  It had grown about 2 feet from the year before.  Last year we got too busy and missed the opportunity to move it.  Not this year, we kept a watchful eye on the tree.  I'm pretty sure the size of it was a daily reminder, that we couldn't wait another year.  When we finally picked the right moment, we discovered that the root system wasn't as strong as we had imagined it would be.  It persevered despite the tough terrain.  Hopefully in the ground with lots of room to grow a deep root system, it will be able to grow strong and all the difficulties it had will disappear.  Now we have to wait again until spring to see if we made the right timing choice.  Isn't it that way in much of what we do in life?  Waiting for a magical moments, or waiting patiently for our dreams to come true.  It's easy to overlook the perseverance needed in all of those moments.  Timing, waiting, planning, hoping, dreaming, wishing...it's the action of all those thoughts that make the difference in the outcome.

Wishing you moments of patience and perseverance!  Happy Wednesday!

The root system - mostly on top of the dirt,
right under the layer of rocks.

See how tall it was!

Still surviving and going through
the seasonal change of colored
leaves.  Soon they'll all drop off.

Hopefully the deer won't eat the top
of the tree.

Copper had to check it out too.  I love
the pretty red!  Can't wait to see
how tall it grows next year!
