A solid walking trip

“When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen….There will be something solid for us to stand on or we will be taught to fly.” ~Patrick Overton
Yesterday we visited the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.  Well, actually, we were there for a discovery meeting for the art school Sarah wants to go to.  At warp speed through Minneapolis and around the building, as my husband found our way there and back, my faithful little camera captured moments of the trip.  A visit to an art center is inspiring.  The buildings are just as much art as the art displayed.  Their gift shop is full of so many cool things, I could spend hours just looking at all the creations.  I kept my folded dollar in my pocket and refrained from buying anything as our purpose was the meeting, not shopping.  (Oh...but we did have to stop at a shoe store in Woodbury...but that's another story!).  The bathrooms were strange with the white floor and black walls and ceilings.  Luckily the floor was solid to stand on!  The open space between displays and the yard that was decorated with weird looking logs makes me wonder why and what message they are trying to create for the visitors.  There is a beautiful wall display outside the building.  I love the colors.

The trip was a good thing for Sarah.  She was able to confirm that her portfolio is well on its way for submission.  It helped her feel more solid on her thoughts about the school.  Now she'll have to put it all together, submit it, and see if she's accepted.  I'm positive that the school would definitely teach her many more ways to fly through the discovery of art.  There's nothing like being a parent having to walk your child to the edge of the light.  Help them create their own faith in the unknown and reassure them and yourself that they will both land well and fly on their own.

See...the IDS tower, we're almost there.

Minneapolis, here we come.

Guess in the fall before the colors change,
this would have been a prettier picture.

The interesting sky line (IDS tower again)

Our turn off just ahead!

We've arrived, look at the huge lawn!

What is that log anyhow?

Stop...I want to take a better picture!

There's light at the end of the tunnel.  Warp speed
