On clouds and life's journey

A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed…it feels an impulsion…this is the place to go now.  But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons. – Richard Bach
Isn't that the way life appears as you look back at events that took you to where you are now?  Sometimes you were just heading off in a fast direction.  At that moment you weren't even aware of how fast you were going.  There were forces beyond your control.  Now, in retrospect, you can see the crazy path you took.  That's okay, sometimes a view from a higher perspective helps.  You simply took a different path for a little while. The path helped you grow. Taking time to look at the big picture of what you want to be doing will help get you back on the right track.

Yesterday as I was sorting papers (yes...me sorting papers again...) it was like reliving the past year.  Preparing the tax papers for my mom's estate, I started to miss my mom again.  It was a year ago we decided it was time to sign her up for Hospice.  That decision took us on a fast track at the end of a very long journey with Dementia.  There were reasons beyond our control taking us on that journey.  Looking back now, while difficult as it may have been, it was a beautiful journey.  Going through the process, I definitely didn't know the reasons why we were taking the path we were on.  In retrospect, though, there were patterns leading up to all the events of the disease.

I learned a lot during the journey:

  • Living in the moment is okay.
  • Planning ahead to make the journey a little less bumpy helps.
  • Bravery comes in many different ways.
  • Love is stronger than any disease.
  • Helping others who are going through the disease helps you heal.
  • However hard the situation is, you are stronger having gone through it.
  • Life is really a beautiful journey.
  • It is really okay to take detours and see beyond the current horizon.
  • There will always be something new to learn and enjoy.

Happy cloud watching!

Sometimes, life just throws you random
bumps...I'm still curious what would have
caused this break in the clouds?

Always more paths to discover.
Each horizon brings you to another starting point.
Enjoy life's journey!
